This tutorial is for people who want to really understand how to install PHPBB manually (it only takes 10 minutes). The namecheap.com "basic" space used in this tutorial costs less than $4/month. So, in the time that it takes to follow this tutorial and only $4/month you can have your own fully functioning PHPBB bulletin board/forum complete with content management system on your website.

This is a great turoial well done! I followed your steps and worked out very well :) I am going to redo the installation and take the forum directory out so that it will be a dedicated forum site and not a forum add-on Just 2 questions 1: This is irrelevent as I am going to reload, but if I used a ftp client and copied the content out of the "forum" folder into the "public_html" folder would everything still work? 2: Is there any restrictions on how many users you could have in a forum?

This is the best tutorial by far on how to install PHPBB3, Alex you are a top man for sharing this with us. The only hiccup for me was that I had to alter the permissions of the 'config.php' files to read/write (666) and then everything installed like a dream.
